Ball Bearing Rollers | Image asource: seekpart.com All the vehicles have a complex working structure. It houses a large number of gears, bearings and many different parts which work together to make the vehicle mobile. The circular motion of the wheel works on the principle of ball bearings. The steering, the axle and the wheel work together in unison to provide the proper movement to the vehicle.
Importance of Ball Bearings: The ball bearing rollers are the most important and commonly used component of the automobile bearing. These ball bearings help you to assemble the different parts of the vehicle. They also help to reduce the friction between the different rotating parts of the vehicle. Many small ball bearings combine together to make the vehicle work. The spherical roller thrust bearing helps in changing the speed of the vehicle. It also determines the load carrying capacity. Different Types of Ball Bearing There are many different types of ball bearing rollers available and used in the automobile for the different purpose. Based on the characteristics of these ball bearings, they have specific uses in the automobiles. The different types of ball bearings include: Radial Deep Groove Ball Bearings: These are the most popular types of ball bearings in the automobile. They can withstand the axial as well as the radial forces. Flanged Radial Deep Groove Ball Bearings: These bearings are similar to the radial deep grooved ones but the major difference is that it has the flange on one of the side of the outer ring of the bearing. Deep Grooved Radial Ball Bearing With Snap Ring: The bearing has a snap ring present on the outer ring. This helps in making the axial orientations easier and saves time. Ultra Thin Radial Ball Bearing: This type of the bearing has the higher ratio of the bore diameter to the outer diameter as compared to the standard bearing. Material Used For Ball Bearing: The different materials for the ball bearings include: Chrome Steel: This material includes 1.5 percent of chromium in its content. The different parts including the bearing rings, balls, rollers used this material. It is resistant to cracking due to high surface resistance and hardness. Stainless Steel: This material includes the other components like chromium and nickel. It is resistant to corrosion but has the low load-bearing capacity. Other Materials: The other less commonly used material for making the ball bearings include the carbon alloy steel, plastic, nitrile rubber, ceramic, etc. Now you know the importance of the ball bearing in the automobile. Thus, you should be careful in selecting the type of bearing while designing the automobile.
